Terms of Service

The short version

  • Scholarship Practice marks your child's writing against a rubric and gives feedback. It does not predict exam results or guarantee improvement.
  • Accounts are held by parents or guardians. Children cannot create accounts.
  • All prompts and stimulus materials on the platform are original. No real exam content is reproduced.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Season passes do not renew. Refund within 14 days of purchase.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Scholarship Practice writing practice platform ("Platform") operated by Wadmore Pty Ltd (ABN 39 686 562 470), trading as Scholarship Practice ("Scholarship Practice", "we", "us", or "our").

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Our Services

Scholarship Practice provides a writing practice and feedback service for children in Years 5, 6 and 7 preparing for independent school scholarship examinations.

The service includes:

  • A free diagnostic mark on one piece of writing per family
  • Automated marking of writing pieces against a five-dimension rubric, scored by year level
  • Prioritised improvements quoted from the child's own writing, with suggested rewrites
  • A model response written one level above the child's current score
  • Original writing prompts with stimulus materials
  • Skill modules matched to the child's areas for growth
  • A weekly practice plan that reshapes as the child's writing develops
  • Pattern detection across multiple pieces
  • Exam simulations under timed conditions
  • A readiness report at the end of the season
  • A Sunday email summarising the week's progress

What the service is not. Scholarship Practice does not predict exam results, guarantee improvement, or claim to change outcomes. The service provides structured practice with specific feedback. Familiarity with the task and composure on the day are what practice gives a child. We do not reproduce real exam content. All prompts and stimulus materials on the platform are original.

3. Accounts

To hold a Scholarship Practice account, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a parent or legal guardian of the child whose writing will be submitted
  • Provide accurate registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

Children do not hold accounts. Children are added as profiles within a parent or guardian's account. Up to three children may be added to one account.

4. Plans and Pricing

Free diagnostic. One piece of writing marked free per family. No payment details required.

Starter pack. Five marked pieces for $39 AUD. No plan, no modules, no weekly email. Designed to check that the marker suits your child.

Season pass. Everything on the platform, to 31 March 2027, for $149 AUD. Up to three children. Includes prompts, modules, plans, pattern reports, exam simulations, the readiness report and the Sunday email.

Nothing renews. There are no recurring charges. A season pass expires on 31 March 2027 and is not automatically renewed or extended.

Starter pack upgrade. If you purchased a starter pack and later purchase a season pass, we will credit the starter pack price ($39) against the season pass.

Prices are in Australian Dollars and include GST where applicable. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store card numbers.

5. Refunds

You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting hello@scholarshippractice.com.au.

For the starter pack, if all five marks have been used within 14 days, the service has been fully delivered. We will still consider a refund on a case-by-case basis if you are genuinely dissatisfied with the quality of the marking.

Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your rights where services are not provided with due care and skill or are not fit for purpose.

6. Child Mode

The Platform includes a child mode designed for the child to use directly. Child mode hides numerical scores and simplifies the interface. A parent or guardian may set a 4-digit PIN to prevent the child from exiting child mode.

The parent or guardian is responsible for supervising their child's use of the Platform. Scholarship Practice is not a childcare service and does not monitor children in real time.

7. Automated Marking

Writing pieces are scored by an automated system using the Anthropic API. The system scores each piece against a rubric, tags each sentence, and generates feedback. The process is described in detail in our Privacy Policy.

The marker runs each piece twice. Where scores disagree, a third run is used and the median is taken. Quoted sentences in the feedback are verified against the child's original text by our code.

If you believe a score or piece of feedback is incorrect, contact hello@scholarshippractice.com.au. We will review it.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform, including rubrics, prompts, stimulus materials, skill modules, feedback text, model responses and the design of the interface, is the intellectual property of Wadmore Pty Ltd and is protected by copyright.

You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from any Scholarship Practice content without our written permission.

Your child's writing remains yours. We do not claim ownership of writing submitted to the Platform. By submitting writing, you grant us a licence to use it to provide the service: scoring, feedback, pattern detection and plan generation. We do not use your child's writing for any other purpose.

Prompts and stimulus. All prompts and stimulus materials on the Platform are original to Scholarship Practice. No real exam prompts are reproduced or closely adapted. Scholarship Practice is not affiliated with or endorsed by any scholarship test provider.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share account credentials or allow unauthorised access
  • Submit writing that is not the child's own work (adult-written, copied from a source, or generated by AI)
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer the marking system
  • Access the Platform through automated means without permission
  • Reproduce prompts, stimulus materials or rubric content outside the Platform

10. Nature and Limits of the Service

Scholarship Practice provides writing practice and feedback. It is not a tutoring service, a test provider, or an exam preparation guarantee.

Our service does NOT:

  • Predict scholarship exam results
  • Guarantee score improvement or exam outcomes
  • Provide access to real exam content
  • Replace a teacher, tutor or educational psychologist
  • Offer reading comprehension, mathematics or reasoning practice

A Scholarship Practice score describes how a piece of writing performs against our rubric for that year level and task type. It is not a prediction of how the child will perform on any external examination.

11. Consumer Guarantees

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that services will be provided with due care and skill and will be fit for any purpose you have made known to us. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to the paragraph above, the Platform is provided "as is" and we do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Platform.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims is limited to the amount paid by you for the services giving rise to the claim in the twelve months preceding the event.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability under the Australian Consumer Law.

13. Suspension and Termination

By you. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and you can request deletion.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your access where you materially breach these Terms, where your use presents a security risk, or where we are required to do so by law. We will give you notice where practicable.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases. Sections 8, 10, 11, 12 and 15 survive termination.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify account holders of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept a material change, you may close your account before the change takes effect and receive a refund of any unused portion of a season pass.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia.

If a dispute arises, please contact us first at hello@scholarshippractice.com.au. We will work with you in good faith to resolve it. If a dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may commence proceedings. The courts of South Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

Nothing in this section prevents you from making a complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, your state or territory consumer protection agency, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
